Tanning Bed Accessories
Tanning beds, also known as sunbeds, are ultraviolet radiation emitting devices that allow a person to develop a cosmetic tan. A tanning bed works by simulating a sun-like environment through the use of fluorescent lamps with phosphor blends in a sort of spectrum. Home tanning beds typically have 12-28 100 watt lamps, while saloons usually have about 24 to 60 lamps in their tanning beds.
There are many different types of tanning bed accessories, and listed below are just a few of them:
1) Tanning bed cleaners- There are a variety of cleaners that can be used to clean tanning beds. These cleaners are used as a deodorant and as a disinfectant, which can help kill numerous types of bacteria and viruses; staph, flu, foot fungus, strep, mono, etc. These concoctions can be mixed with water and then used freely for cleaning purposes. Bed polish will remove smudges, dirt, and dust as well as leave a scratch resistant barrier on the bed. If scratches become an issue for the tanning bed, there are plenty of effective scratch removers that may be used. To keep up with health standards, test strips can be used on the sanitizer solution (200 ppm).
2) Pillows- Every person going to a tanning saloon wants to be comfortable; so, it is only natural to have a pillow. The most common pillows for tanning beds are contour head and neck pillows, which give excellent support to the head and/or neck. Then again, flat cushions are just as acceptable because they can be used for either the feet or the head.
3) Eye protection accessories- Ultraviolet rays are harmful to the eyes, so eye protection is a must when using tanning beds. To avoid tan lines, select eye wear with a high nose bridge. Eye cones are disposable and they are very easy to assemble; not to mention, they're safe. Whatever eye protection you choose to use, be sure the brand has a long and positive history with UV eye safety.
4) Body lotions- There happens to be a wide variety of lotions that can be used either before or after tanning bed sessions. Some are used to provide a great base tan, while others are used to prolong the tanning bed's results.
5) Sign Boards- These are great for advertising your saloon and tanning services.
6) Body stickers- This is applied to the body and then used as a "tan indicator," which basically tells the person how well the tan is coming along.
There are lots of tanning bed accessories to choose from; but even in light of all your options, you still have to be careful when shopping. Tanning can have adverse effects on your skin, which is precisely why it is so important to buy the proper accessories. Eye protection and hygiene are two EXTREMELY important aspects when using tanning beds; so be sure your eyes are protected and the bed you're using is thoroughly cleaned.
